Ali George is known for his intricate guitar playing, his mellow, effortless vocals, and his honest, soulful songwriting.
His eclectic writing style encompasses anything from deeply personal love songs to fictional short stories he has set to music.
When he was six, his schoolteacher advised his parents to buy him a guitar, as she had noticed he had become fascinated with one at school.
At the age of ten he was already writing songs and performing in a band.
At sixteen he began performing solo, writing prolifically, and recording albums on his analogue four-track at home. Many of his songs were inspired by the wild countryside around his home in the Mendips. This deep connection with nature continues in his songs today.
In his late teens he heard the legendary Nick Drake for the first time and was deeply inspired by his finger-style guitar technique and his use of open tunings.
Ali has released five official albums of original material and several EP's. He performs both solo and with a full band and has supported revered folk acts such as Martin Simpson, Steve Tilson, Nick Harper and Rory McLeod.
